Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau Launches New Marketing Initiatives to Entice Locals and Travelers

July 02, 2024

SONORA, CA - The Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau (TCVB) has innovative marketing programs that are sure to peak the interest of residents. A key initiative for the TCVB is to increase off-peak (October through April) and midweek business. A Visiting Friends and Relatives Campaign and a Meetings Incentive Program have been created to spur shoulder season visitation. The TCVB has partnered with Tuolumne County Transit Agency to efficiently move visitors and residents around the County on busy summer Saturdays and a new partnership with the Groveland Museum is proving to be beneficial for all.

The TCVB encourages residents to invite friends and family to head to Tuolumne County. Residents can stop by the TCVB office in downtown Sonora to fill out a “Wish You Were Here” postcard. Postcards will also be available at TCVB booths at the Mother Lode Fair July 5th – 8th (until 7 pm) and at the Westside Brew Fest on July 21st (bring postcard addresses!). The TCVB will provide postage at no charge and will mail the postcard. Any resident who stops in to send a postcard (or two!) will be entered in an amazing Tuolumne County Staycation Giveaway. Entries for the Staycation Giveaway will be accepted through July 21st.

To bolster off-season and midweek business the TCVB has initiated a Meeting Incentive Program and is actively reaching out to Bay Area, Central Valley and Sacramento corporations to come to Tuolumne County for their retreats and employee incentive programs. The TCVB reminds residents that if they belong to any out of area boards, service clubs or other groups, invite them to have a meeting in Tuolumne County. The TCVB is ready to help with ideas, logistics, and incentives. Call Katie Kirkland, TCVB Communications and Tourism Manager at 209-533-4420.

The Tuolumne Adventure Trolley is a new partnership with the Tuolumne County Transit Agency. The TCVB is promoting this new summer Saturday service which will operate through September 1st. “We are very excited about this partnership. The TCVB was instrumental in making this service free of charge to residents and visitors. It will get cars off the road on busy Saturdays and encourage riders to visit many area attractions. Our hope is that riders will continue to consider public transportation once this program is over for the year,” stated Lisa Mayo, TCVB Executive Director.

In yet another new partnership, the TCVB has teamed up with the Groveland Museum to add a Visitor Center element to the Museum. The TCVB provides a visitor information team member to work alongside docents to give visitors information while docents can focus on guiding guests through the Museum. Additionally, a ranger from Yosemite National Park is on hand to answer questions about Yosemite before guests get to the entrance gate providing a more efficient gate entry process. Visitors to the Museum will soon be able to purchase park passes on site. Guest numbers to the museum have increased significantly since the partnership began in May.
