- Attend the Mother Lode Round-Up Parade held the Saturday of Mother's Day Weekend every year. This is one of the largest parades in all of California and a great tribute to the history of Tuolumne County and the Gold Country , free admission
- Step back in time and walk along the wooden sidewalks at Columbia State Historic Park one of the best preserved Gold Rush era towns that exists. Explore the blacksmith shop, museum and countless other shops that take you right back to the Gold Rush. No entrance fee!
- Take a hike around Tuolumne County's iconic Pinecrest Lake – a favorite family destination for generations!
- Give yourself a history lesson at Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. Walk out on the dam where you can learn all about this historic and vital water supply for the San Francisco Bay Area. Take a short hike to Wapama Falls or go for a longer multi-day hike.
Worth the Drive and the Fee:
- Yosemite National Park spectacular views, waterfalls and wildlife. $20/car entrance fee
- Ride the train at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, also known as the “Movie Railroad” where Engine No. 3 starred in many old westerns and in more recent films such as Back to the Future. Train ride tickets start at $8/youth and $15/adult
